WILLS AND ESTATE PLANNING

Estate Planning involves planning for the time when you are unable to act for yourself and make your own decisions, as well as planning for your eventual death. For young parents, estate planning often means putting in place a framework in case tragedy strikes. That might include appointing a guardian to care for children, and setting up a trust to protect life insurance proceeds and other assets. For others, estate planning might be focused on simplifying probate, protecting a special asset (such as a vacation home), preserving assets for loved ones, ensuring the right distribution of your estate, or creating a legacy.

We work closely with you to build a thoughtful, customized estate plan based upon your needs. At each step, we'll help you ask the right questions, and we'll explore various options that might make sense for you. These options include wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and living wills. In addition to drafting estate planning documents to fit your situation, we can assist you with completing beneficiary designation forms or titling of assets to align with your estate plan. Following your incapacity or death, we are available to assist your family with the administration of your estate (probate) or trust. We can also assist you and your family with both setting up and administering guardianships and conservatorships for both minors and adults if and when they become necessary.
